Shopify products not showing in ChatGPT?
Since March 2026 Shopify sends eligible products to ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot and Gemini through Shopify Catalog. Whether an assistant recommends yours depends on the product record: a literal title, a type or category, a brand, an identifier, a real description, an image, and a product that is actually published. This check reads those fields and tells you which ones are missing.
What the check covers
- The discovery surfaces on your storefront: /agents.md, the UCP endpoints, and whether robots.txt blocks the assistants’ crawlers.
- Product structured data on the page: brand, price, availability and an identifier in the Product schema.
- Inside the Shopify app: every active product’s type, vendor, barcode, description length, image, hidden flag and publication, plus your shipping, returns and privacy policies — with three of those fixed for you with approval.
- Accessibility, speed and search findings on the same pages, since the same product page has to work for a person too.

- Shopify Catalog (the feed to the assistants since May 2026) carries only published products with a price, an image and no "hide from search engines" flag; draft, archived and unlisted products never reach an assistant.
- Shopify’s own guidance: literal titles ("Texturizing sea salt spray", not "Ocean breeze"), a specific product type or category, grouped variants, a brand, a GTIN where one exists, and complete shipping and returns policies.
- Shopify reported AI-referred orders up roughly 13× year over year in early 2026 and tripling again by mid-year; Adobe measured AI-referred traffic converting 42 % better than other channels. The volume is still small — the point is being findable when it grows.
What you get
- An AI shopping readiness score with the findings per product, and the fix for each: set the product type from its category, set the vendor, clear the hidden flag — applied with your approval, the original saved first.
- The merchant tasks named honestly: add an image, add a barcode from the packaging (never a made-up one), write thirty words that say what the product is.
- The same free plan as everything else: 3 scans a month and 3 fixes every 30 days, no card.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- Enrolment puts the catalog in front of the assistants; it does not make a product recommendable. Titles that do not say what the product is, missing product types, missing images and unpublished or hidden products are the usual reasons. New products and title changes take one to three weeks to be picked up.
- ChatGPT’s channel is for stores selling to US buyers; Google AI Mode, Gemini and Copilot read Shopify Catalog more widely. The check applies to any store on Shopify Catalog and names the assistants that apply to yours.
- No one can, and we do not. The assistants rank on data completeness, price, reviews and trust signals across the web. The check fixes the part that is a data defect on your side.
