Compliance score

A compliance score is the percentage of WCAG success criteria a website passes, typically calculated as `passed_criteria / total_criteria * 100`.

Also: accessibility scoreAlso: WCAG scoreAlso: a11y scoreAlso: compliance percentage

Detailed explanation

AccessComply reports a single 0-100 compliance score per scan, calculated as the share of automatically-testable WCAG 2.1 + 2.2 AA criteria the storefront passes. Note that automated tools can only verify ~30-40% of WCAG criteria; the rest require manual review by a human auditor.

A 100% score on automated criteria is necessary but not sufficient for full WCAG conformance. It does, however, eliminate the violations most commonly cited in ADA demand letters and in EAA market-surveillance actions.

Lawsuit-risk tiers map roughly to the violation count: CRITICAL (50+ violations or any keyboard/navigation failure), HIGH (25-49), MEDIUM (10-24), LOW (<10).

How this applies to Shopify stores

AccessComply's dashboard shows the score over time per storefront, tracks regressions after theme updates or new product additions, and feeds the score into the public accessibility statement so customers can see your remediation progress.
